Meall Chuaich (951m, Munro) – Hill of the Cup
This rounded hill is a prominent landmark at the northern end of the high plateau on the E side of the Pass of Drumochter.
Start from the A9 at lay-by 94 on the E side or lay-by 93 on theW side, NN654867. Almost opposite the entrance to Cuaich Cottages, take the gated track SE to join a track beside the aqueduct. Follow the Aqueduct E until near the Loch Cuaich Dam, then fork left to the Allt Coire Chuaich Bothy. 250m SE of the bothy, cross the burn and head NE up the slope to the summit of StacMeall Chuaich, 822mex. Turn E and climb to the summit of Meall Chuaich. *Return by the route of ascent or via the head of Coire Chuaich to rejoin the outward track.
*An alternative descent heads steeply down NW, curving SW to reach the head of Loch Cuaich**, thence
on the track back to the start.
**The day may be extended by climbing the Graham Creag Ruadh, 658m, and/or its Top, Druim nan Sac,
644m. From the head of Loch Cuaich, head W up the steep slope to the col between the two peaks.
Descend SW to rejoin the aqueduct to finish.
