This week the clean-ups are part of the national Surfers Against Sewage Autumn Series Beach and River Cleans 2018 https://www.sas.org.uk/region/all/
SAS beach clean Spring and Autumn campaigns have long been a staple of ocean enthusiasts’ diaries and this year we are moving inland to our rivers for the first time. We want to tackle the problem of pollution further upstream and highlight the direct link between all UK towns, villages and cities and the ocean around us.
The scale of this clean – the biggest across the UK – will provide us with vital data to inform the Governments decisions on the new deposit return scheme. We will be able to specifically show the range of bottles and cans ending up polluting our islands and which need to be included in the new scheme.
Sunday 28th October: Meet on George St. beach at 12:00 to start with or join us along the way. We hope to get as far along the Oban shores as we can whilst covering George St., the Esplanade and the large burns at the Witches. Volunteers also wanted for areas beside the Black Lynn – please get in touch.
All equipment will be provided but please do bring your own protective gloves if you have them, dress for the outdoors and wrap up warm.
Fresh air, community spirit and making a tangible difference to your local environment! Come and join the movement! :0) Contact Janie on 07530 314127Map Unavailable Get driving directions »
